The following is being distributed at the request of Newfoundland Labrador High School Athletic Federation:

High School Table Tennis Championships set

Goose High School in Happy Valley-Goose Bay is the host school for this weekend's Provincial High School Table Tennis Championships. The island tournament was held two weeks ago with Glovertown Regional High winning the competition and advancing to the provincial final. They will compete against seven Labrador teams in a team and individual competition. Two divisions of four will compete in round robin action. Division A will see Glovertown, Menihek High (Labrador City), Lake Melville School (North West River) and Peenamin MacKenzie (Sheshatshiu). In division B, Goose High, J.C. Erhardt (Makkovik), Eric G. Lambert (Churchill Falls) and Henry Gordon Academy (Cartwright) will face off.

Each encounter between two teams will consist of one match each in boys singles, girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles. The team winning two out of three matches is declared the winner. The opening ceremonies for the event are scheduled for 9 a.m., Friday, with encounters scheduled for 10:15 a.m.

An individual competition will take place following the team event, starting at 2:30 p.m. Champions will be declared in boys singles, girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles.
