NOTE TO EDITORS:

Members of the media are advised that Brian Tobin, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will officially open the J.R. Smallwood Interpretation Centre and the Kittiwake Coast Information Centre on June 1, 1999. The event will take place at 7 p.m. at the centre in Gambo.

The announcement is being made as part of the Soiree '99 celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Newfoundland and Labrador joining Canada.

Bill Smallwood, grandson of Joey Smallwood, as well as several municipal and federal dignitaries and officials, will attend the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
