Minister announces early registration for seasonal campers

Charles Furey, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced the early registration of seasonal campers at Butter Pot Provincial Park.

Registration will take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18, with 37 seasonal campsites being made available on a first come, first served basis for a fee of $937 per site, including HST. The purchase of a seasonal campsite allows those registering to occupy that campsite from the park's opening on May 19 to its closing on September 20. Campers will not be permitted to place camping equipment on a site prior to May 19. Those wishing to register are advised that the fee is to be paid by cash, money order or a certified cheque. In addition, a motor vehicle registration certificate for the camping equipment intended to be used must be presented when registering.

For those unable to take advantage of this opportunity, the remaining seasonal campsites will be made available between May 19 and June 2. Persons requiring additional information are advised to contact Keith Brown, Parks and Natural Areas Manager, Butter Pot Provincial Park, at (709) 685-1853.

Minister Furey invites everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to spend the summer enjoying the facilities, services and attractions of Newfoundland and Labrador's most popular provincial park.

Media contact: Elizabeth Matthews, (709) 729-0857.
