Notre Dame Junction Bridge to be replaced

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, is pleased to announce a contract awarded to W. Reid Construction Ltd. of Bishop's Falls to replace the wooden bridge at Notre Dame Junction.

The new, 23-foot bridge replaces the existing structure, which is more than 20 years old. This project will employ three people for two weeks, at a cost of $33,300. Construction will begin May 31. The minister said: "Replacing this outdated structure will ensure safe access to mature timber for local woods contractors. It will also provide access for future silviculture activities.

"Our department is committed to maintaining safe and reasonable access to all commercial sites. We also make every effort to ensure the protection of any members of the public who might use these access roads for recreational purposes."
