Chair comments on Marble Mountain general manager controversy

Greg White, Chair and CEO of the Marble Mountain Management Corporation, said today that political influence and opposition pressure had nothing to do with the decision not to conclude negotiations with Peter Kelly for the position of general manager at Marble Mountain.

"Neither comments by the opposition, nor the fact that Mr. Kelly is from Nova Scotia had any impact on the decision by Marble Mountain Management Corporation not to hire him," said Mr. White. "MMMC was negotiating for a full-time general manager who would be on site five days a week. Comments by Mr. Kelly indicated that he viewed this job as part-time position. Obviously, that arrangement would not meet the needs of Marble Mountain and could not be agreed upon."

Mr. White noted that decisions regarding management of the resort will be made based on the best interests of Marble Mountain, and not in response to opposition comments.
