Beaton Tulk reappointed to Cabinet

Premier Brian Tobin today announced the reappointment of Beaton Tulk to Cabinet as Minister of Development and Rural Renewal and Government House Leader. Minister Tulk was sworn in at Government House by His Honour, The Administrator, Clyde K. Wells, Chief Justice of Newfoundland.

"Beaton Tulk resigned from Cabinet on December 2, 1998 after John Woodrow made allegations of wrongdoing against him," said the Premier. "On that same day, an RCMP investigation was initiated and I requested the Commissioner of Members Interests to also look into the matter. On March 18, 1999, the RCMP determined that there was no criminal wrongdoing, and I am pleased to report that today, Mr. Robert Jenkins, Commissioner of Members Interest, has also found these allegations to be unsubstantiated."

"I am pleased that the allegations of wrongdoing against Minister Tulk have been cleared up once and for all, and that he is able to resume his role as Cabinet Minister and Government House Leader," said Premier Tobin. "This has been a difficult time for Minister Tulk and his family, but he has weathered the storm with his integrity intact. I am glad to have him back as a member of my Cabinet."
