Environmental Assessment Bulletin Environment and Labour Minister Oliver Langdon has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown for each item. NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
The proponent proposes to set up and operate a Christmas Tree Farm on a 7.6 hectare site in the Fox Harbour area, near Placentia Sound. The proposed site is situated five kilometres south east of Fox Harbour and is located near the main road, route 102. Plans are to create a commercial Christmas Tree operation by cutting and thinning young trees to a 1.5 metre spacing, fertilizing the area using existing slash and shaping the trees. Thinning is planned to start in late March of this year. The undertaking was registered on February 4, 1999; public comments are due on March 12, 1999; and the minister's decision is due on March 21, 1999. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PLAN RECEIVED

The Environmental Preview Report (EPR) has been deemed acceptable by the minister and the project is released from environmental assessment.
