Second Jobs and Growth public consultation meeting added for Gander

Development and Rural Renewal Minister Beaton Tulk, chair of the Cabinet Committee, announced today that an additional public consultation forum will be held on Thursday, October 21, at 7 p.m. at the Albatross Hotel in Gander.

Minister Tulk said the meeting is needed to accommodate everyone who wants to address the committee.

"The response we received from individuals and organizations in the Gander region exceeded our expectations," said Minister Tulk. "We were unable to accommodate all who had registered at the public meeting held Monday night in Gander".

Some 24 groups and individuals registered for the committee's first meeting in Gander on Monday night. Twelve of those registered will now make their presentation Thursday night. Time will also be allotted for anyone who wishes to address the committee but who has not registered to make a formal presentation.

"The level of interest is clearly a good sign that people are taking the process seriously and government has no difficulty in scheduling more time to listen to those who wish to share their views on renewing the jobs and growth agenda," said the minister.

The consultation on jobs and growth continues tonight at 7 p.m. with a public forum at the Mount Peyton Hotel in Grand Falls-Windsor. For more information on the consultation or to register for an upcoming public forum call toll-free 1-877-729-6440.
