Early registration for seasonal campers

Early registration of seasonal campers at Butter Pot Provincial Park will take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, with 37 seasonal campsites being made available on a first come first served basis.

Tourism, Culture and Recreation Minister Sandra Kelly says a seasonal campsite purchase allows those registering to occupy that campsite from the park's opening on May 13 to its closing on September 21.

The minister stressed that campers will not be permitted to place camping equipment on a site prior to May 13, and added that the fee of $937 per site is unchanged from 1997.

Those wishing to register are advised that the fee is to be paid by cash, money order or certified cheque payable to the Newfoundland Exchequer Account. In addition, a valid motor vehicle registration certificate for the intended camping equipment must be presented when registering.

Should any seasonal campsites remain after the weekend's advance registration, an update will be issued early next week.
