(Works, Services and Transportation)
Paul Dicks, MHA - Humber West, and Lloyd Matthews, Minister of
Works, Services and Transportation, today announced that a brush
clearing program will be carried out in the district by the Gallants
Town Council.
This project will see 10 hectares cleared at a cost of $25,000 and
result in 366 person days of work.
This project is part of a $1 million Highway Maintenance and Safety
Program recently announced by the minister.
Brush cutting increases safety and improves the appearance of our
highways. Brush cutting increases motorists' sight distances on curves
and intersections; helps drivers to maintain an unobstructed view of
hazards (particulary moose); makes road signs more visible; improves
drainage on highways; helps with snow removal; and minimizes icy
pavement conditions.
