Beaumont Hamel resumes service to Change Islands and Fogo Island

Ferry service to both Change Islands and Fogo Island will resume this afternoon with the first run leaving Farewell and stopping in Fogo and Change Islands.

"As a result of ongoing discussions with residents from Change Islands, area MHA Gerry Reid and my officials, it has been agreed that the ferry Beaumont Hamel will resume its winter schedule service to the islands without protest or disruptions," says Julie Bettney, Minister of Works, Service and Transportation. "We have also received a commitment from Change Islands residents to meet tomorrow morning with my officials and their MHA to continue discussions on avenues to address their concerns."

If necessary, an extra run will be provided this evening to take care of any traffic backlog. Bettney believes there are efficiencies to be found within the existing service, but will require the involvement of all stakeholders.
