The Department of Social Services announced today that effective February 24, the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association - Newfoundland Chapter (CHHA-NC) will be providing Visual Language Interpretation services to clients who are deaf or hard of hearing throughout the province. This service was previously provided by the Newfoundland Coordinating Council on Deafness (NCCD).

The new contract with CHHA-NC will ensure the provision of interpreter services in a number of defined settings including: medical; legal; employment; social services; and education. The CHHA-NC will provide people with these services on an as needed basis.

People who need interpreter services should contact the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association - Newfoundland Chapter in St. John's.
