NOTICE OF ADVANCE POLL
Advance Polls for the Plebiscite on the Future of Education will be held
in all electoral districts of the province on Tuesday, August 26, 1997.
Persons qualified to vote at the Plebiscite who are blind, physically
handicapped, or have reason to believe they will be absent from and unable
to vote in the polling division in which they are ordinarily resident on
September 2, 1997, may vote at the Advance Poll. Individuals who are
eligible to vote at the Advance Poll and who will be absent from their home
district on Tuesday, August 26, 1997 may vote at any Advance Polling
Station in the province.
Advance Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Newfoundland
Daylight Time (7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Labrador) at the following

QUALIFICATIONS OF ELECTORS
Under authority of Sections 3 and 4 of the Election Act, Chapter E-3 of the Revised Statutes of Newfoundland, 1990, as amended, an elector must meet the following qualifications: 1. Be 18 years of age or more on polling day; 2. A Canadian Citizen; 3. Ordinarily resident in the province immediately preceding the plebiscite. EMPLOYEES PERMITTED 3 HOURS TO VOTE An employee who is a qualified elector shall have three consecutive hours to vote during the 12 hours that the polls are open.
