The following is being distributed at the request of Newfoundland and Labrador High School Athletic Federation:

The High School soccer season comes to an end this coming weekend with four provincial high school championships sponsored by the High School Athletic Federation. The Girls 3A tournament is being held in Bay Bulls, hosted by Mobile Central High. Five teams are entered in the contest. Division A will feature a round robin contest between Mobile, Vaters Collegiate (St. John's) and Carbonear Integrated. Division B will have Berney Memorial (Burin) and Belanger Memorial (Doyles) playing in a two game total goal contest. Play begins Friday morning at 10 a.m.. The top two teams from each division will advance to the championship game 3 p.m. on Saturday.

St. Stephen's High School in Stephenville will host the six team 4A Girls championships. Playing a round robin event in Division A will be Holy Heart of Mary (St. John's), the host St. Stephen's and St. Francis (Harbour Grace). In Division B, Bishops College (St. John's), Marystown Central High, and Regina High (Corner Brook) will compete for top honors. Games will be played at both St. Stephen's and Stephenville Integrated fields, with the first game set to start 8:30 a.m. Friday. The top two teams from each division will meet in semi-final action at 9 a.m. Saturday. The championship game will be played at 2 p.m.

Four teams have registered for the Boys 3A tournament hosted by Belanger Memorial in Doyles. Competing against the host in the round robin event will be Berney Memorial (Burin), Mobile Central High and Stephenville Integrated. The first game is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday with the other games set for 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., as well as 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday. The top two teams after the round robin will compete in the championship game 3 p.m. Saturday.

Six teams will compete in the 4A Boys Provincial Soccer championships. St. Francis High in Harbour Grace will host at both Harbour Grace and Carbonear. The first games get underway 9 a.m., Friday morning at both venues. Playing at Harbour Grace in Division A will be the host, St. Francis, Gander Collegiate and Queen Elizabeth Regional High (Foxtrap). Division B will play at Carbonear and will see competition between Holy Heart of Mary (St. John's), St. Lawrence Central High and Herdman Collegiate (Corner Brook). The semi-finals are scheduled for 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday with the championship game set to get at 3:30 p.m.

Each winning team will receive the championship banner, which will be permanently displayed in their school. The Keyin Sportsmanship Award will be presented to an individual in each tournament who best exemplifies the ideals of the High School Athletic Federation.
