Sport Newfoundland and Labrador Three hundred and forty-five skaters from all parts of the island will be arriving in Lewisporte this weekend for the start of the 1996 Notre Dame Agencies/General Electric Newfoundland Sectional Precision Championships and the 1996 Newfoundland Adult Sectional Precision Championships. Notre Dame Figure Skating Club will be host for the event which is being skated for the 15th consecutive year in the province. The 21 teams participating start their official practices Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Lewisporte Stadium. Competition in the Technical Short Program will take place Saturday from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Lewisporte Wholesales Ltd. Junior Category (comprising four teams) and in the Notre Dame Agencies/General Electric Senior Category (comprising two teams). Opening ceremonies start 9 a.m. Sunday with competition starting at 10 a.m. Skaters will take to the ice in the Marine Atlantic Juvenile Category (four teams), Town of Lewisporte Novice Category (six teams), Lewisporte Wholesales Ltd. Junior Category (four teams), Notre Dame Agencies/General Electric Senior Category (two teams) and Shoppers Drug Mart Adult Category (five teams). Medal presentations and closing ceremonies Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The teams will be competing for the right to represent Newfoundland at the 1996 Canadian Precision Skating Championships which are being held in Hamilton, Ontario from April 3 to 6, 1996.
