Scarification Project contract awarded in Labrador West District

Beaton Tulk, Minister of Forest Resources Agrifoods, and Perry Canning, MHA-Labrador West, are pleased to announce the award of a contract to scarify 40 hectares near Elephant Head Road.

A $9,960 contract was awarded to Cedric Payne of Labrador City. "This project will complete the site preparation phase of reforestation. It is designed to patch scarify areas previously disturbed by cutovers and burns," said the minister. The major objective of scarification is to create favourable microsites and remove or reduce competing vegetation in order to improve the accessibility and plantability of the site.

The project will employ one person for six weeks.
