Two individuals from Northern Peninsula convicted under Retail Sales Tax Act

Two individuals from the Northern Peninsula were recently convicted for failing to file Retail Sales Tax returns and remit tax to the provincial government.

Allan Hillier of Hillier's Ultramar in Griquet and Eric Hillier of Goose Cove Lounge in Goose Cove were both fined in St. Anthony Provincial Court on June 3, 1996 on two counts each for failing to file Retail Sales Tax returns and for failing to remit Retail Sales Tax in the manner and at the time provided by Regulation 8 and in accordance with Section 28 and Section 35 of the Retail Sales Tax Act.

Both were fined $200 for each of the two charges and were given four months to pay their fines.
