The Provincial Government has awarded Eastern Contracting Ltd. a contract for $3.6 million to repair Bishop Feild Elementary in St. John’s.
The scope of work includes structural repairs, new ceilings, new LED lighting, a new alternate exit from the gymnasium, demolition of an abandoned boiler room and chimney, and repairs and improvements to the exterior, brick, stone, foundations and buttresses.
A complete structural assessment, ceiling demolition and design work for the building rehabilitation has already taken place.
The work is anticipated to be completed in December 2019. Students and staff will return to the school in January 2020.
