Today, the Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2020 Athletic Excellence Fund.

To support the pursuit of athletic excellence in Newfoundland and Labrador and to help offset the costs of training and competition, the Athletic Excellence Fund provides funding to athletes through the Premier’s Athletic Awards, the Elite Athlete Assistance Program, the Team Gushue Awards and the Sport NL Scholarships. Coaches and officials also have the opportunity to apply for the Sport NL Scholarships through the Athletic Excellence Fund.

For athletes, coaches and officials who are eligible to apply for one or more of the programs, they must be a current member in good standing with their provincial sport organization.

Applicants must submit completed applications to their respective provincial sport organization before January 29, 2020. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. A copy of the application can be found online here.
