  • Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner

January 25, 2018

Data Privacy Day 2018 happens this weekend! On January 28, 2018, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner joins other provinces and territories across Canada as well as other countries around the world in celebrating Data Privacy Day.

Data Privacy Day is an effort to raise awareness of the impact of technology on our right to privacy, including the many ways personal information is collected, stored, used, disclosed, and shared. The celebration of Data Privacy Day also underlines the importance of protecting personal information, a right this Office is committed to protecting.

We ask that you to think about what you have done or are planning to do to promote privacy protection. By valuing personal information and bringing privacy responsibilities to the forefront, we can work together to improve privacy protection in all public bodies across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Visit our website  to see the events we have planned and be sure to visit the official Data Privacy Day website .
