Statement from Bruce Chaulk, Commissioner for Legislative Standards

In response to numerous requests for updates on the status of the recent harassment investigations in the legislature, the Commissioner for Legislative Standards for Newfoundland and Labrador, Bruce Chaulk, is assuring those involved that his office will be working strictly in accordance with the provisions of the House of Assembly, Accountability, Integrity and Administration Act with regards to the distribution of the investigation reports.

The complaints received by the Commissioner have all been filed under section 37(1) of the House of Assembly, Accountability, Integrity and Administration Act. Once the investigations are complete and the reports have been written, section 38(1) of the Act requires that the reports be provided only to the Management Commission of the House of Assembly and the Members involved.

In all cases, the reports will be provided to the relevant parties within the statutory timelines.
