The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

Goobies EWS Nursery and Laydown Area (Reg. 1973)
Proponent: EWS – Engineered Wetland Solutions Ltd.

The proponent has submitted a proposal for a nursery operation for growing Canadian reed plants for wetland treatment systems as well as a laydown area just south of the Trans-Canada Highway and the Burin Peninsula Highway Junction at Goobies. The plants will be grown in plant cells raised off the ground in a greenhouse tunnel. Construction will consist of land clearing and installing the required equipment. Operations will consist of the propagation of the plants from cuttings of existing plant stock, growing plants, and shipping plants to related projects.

The undertaking was registered on July 12, 2018; the deadline for public comments is August 16, 2018; and the minister’s decision is due by August 26, 2018.
