The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Piper’s Hole Sand Quarry Extension (Reg. 1970)
Proponent: Sparkes Trucking Limited

The proponent is proposing to develop a three-hectare quarry to extend their existing sand quarry near the Piper’s Hole River and estuary approximately 5.7 kilometres west of the community of Swift Current. The proposed extension is needed to supply additional sand and gravel to clients. Construction will include clearing, grubbing, and the removal of overburden. Operation will include screening and transport to clients.

The undertaking was registered on June 19, 2018; the deadline for public comments is July 25, 2018; and the minister’s decision is due by August 3, 2018.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

White Hills (St. John’s) Cannabis Production Facility (Reg. 1960)
Proponent: Canopy Growth Corporation

The project is released subject to the following conditions:

  • A Women’s Employment Plan for this project shall be submitted to, and approved by, the Women’s Policy Office prior to construction. Contracted companies must be informed during the tendering process to submit a Women’s Employment Plan for the project as a requirement of successful bidding.   • A comprehensive Waste Management Plan shall be submitted to, and approved by, the Pollution Prevention Division prior to the introduction of cannabis to the facility. For further information, please contact the Pollution Prevention Division at (709) 729-7012.
