  • Municipal Affairs and Environment

May 29, 2018

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment is monitoring Environment and Climate Change Canada weather forecast information on two approaching systems that will bring a mix of precipitation and strong winds to the province today and tomorrow. A rainfall warning has been issued for the Avalon Peninsula with amounts of more than 60 millimetres forecast by Wednesday evening; total rainfall could be higher in some areas. In western and central regions of the island, rain is expected to become mixed with snow tonight.

Heavy rainfall can cause elevated water levels in water bodies, pooling of water in low lying areas and minor localized flooding. Residents are reminded to follow the latest weather forecast for further alert bulletins and to take measures to ensure personal safety. More information regarding weather forecasts and warnings that are specific to your location can be found at: weather.gc.ca/warnings/index_e.html?prov=nl .
