  • Municipal Affairs and Environment

February 5, 2018

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment is monitoring forecast information on a weather system that is anticipated to bring significant rainfall in certain areas of the province tonight and into Tuesday.

Heavy rainfall and high winds are forecast to begin on the south and west coasts of the island and on the south coast of Labrador today and expected to continue into tonight. High amounts of rain could increase water levels and snow melt. Soil may be loosened and riverbanks and coastal areas may be at risk of increased instability. Residents and communities are asked to use caution and to take measures to ensure personal safety. Information regarding general emergency preparedness is available at www.getprepared.gc.ca .

Please follow the latest weather forecast warnings for your region of the province at: www.weather.gc.ca/warnings/index_e.html?prov=nl .
