Media Advisory: Minister Haggie to Participate in Launch of New Harm Reduction Initiative

The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, will participate in the launch of a new harm reduction initiative at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, June 6) at Quidi Vidi Lake in St. John’s (gravel parking lot at the intersection of The Boulevard and East White Hills Road.)

Minister Haggie will be joined by Bernard Davis, MHA for Virginia Waters – Pleasantville; Mayor Danny Breen and Councillor Hope Jamieson of the City of St. John’s; and Jane Henderson representing the St. John’s Community Action Group on Fentanyl.

The harm reduction initiative is led by the Action Group, a partnership between the Department of Health and Community Services, City of St. John’s, Eastern Health, and community outreach organizations, and will provide metal sharps kiosks and boxes in public locations throughout the City of St. John’s to facilitate the safe disposal of needles.
