Provincial Portion of HST Book Rebate Reinstated

January 2, 2018

At the request of the Provincial Government, the provincial HST rebate on qualifying books has been reinstated as of January 1, 2018. The same eligibility conditions that were in effect before the rebate was removed will once again apply.

In August 2017 the Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, announced his intentions to write the Federal Government to reinstate the rebate. In December 2017, a resolution in the House of Assembly confirmed this change.

The rebate is administered by the Federal Government, for the province, under the Comprehensive Integrated Tax Co-ordination Agreement (CITCA).
