Public Advisory: Forest Access Roads in Central Newfoundland Sustain Damage

The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources advises that some forest access roads in central Newfoundland sustained moderate to extensive damage due to heavy rainfall on April 29, 2018. Individuals should use extreme caution when travelling on the following forest access roads:

  • New Bay Access Road in Forest Management District 10 has been washed out at approximately the two kilometre mark and is not passable to vehicular traffic;
  • Sandy Badger Resource Road, located behind the former paper mill site in Grand Falls-Windsor, in Forest Management District 11, has been washed out near the 20 kilometre mark and is not passable to vehicular traffic; and,
  • Millertown Junction Road in Forest Management District 12 has been washed out at approximately the three kilometre mark and is not passable to vehicular traffic.

The department continues to assess the damage related to the rainstorm and encourages the public to use extreme caution on any forest access road.
