The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, will attend the 62nd Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women on March 12-13 in New York City.
Minister Coady will be a part of the Canadian delegation of federal, provincial, and territorial representatives. A range of topics will be discussed including advocacy for gender equality, violence against women and girls, and barriers for justice for Indigenous women.
The priority theme of this year’s meeting is challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.
The Provincial Government is committed to advancing the status of women by representing the needs of Newfoundland and Labrador women on an international stage.
