The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, will attend the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Skills Summit 2018 taking place in Portugal, June 28 and 29.

Minister Hawkins is the designated minister of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada to the summit, which will convene ministers with responsibility for a range of skills-relevant portfolios, including education, higher education, vocational education and training, employment, science and innovation, economic development and the digital agenda.

The OECD, established in 1961, is mandated to promote polices that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world, providing a forum in which governments work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems.
