Public Advisory: Update Provided on Night Time Construction Pilot Project

Motorists on the Avalon Peninsula are advised that work on the Department of Transportation and Works’ night time pilot project will take place on the Trans-Canada Highway between Salmonier Line and Foxtrap Access this evening, Wednesday, September 27.

Detours will be in place to ensure the safety of motorists and crews working on the road between 7 p.m. tonight and 6 a.m. tomorrow morning. During those times, eastbound motorists on the Trans-Canada Highway will detour via:

  • Salmonier Line (Route 90)
  • CBS Highway (Route 60)
  • Peacekeepers Way (Route 2)
  • Foxtrap Access Road (Route 61)

Westbound traffic will not be affected. Detours may be lifted early depending on weather and progress.

While the highway will be open to traffic between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., motorists are advised to slow down, obey all signs, and watch for reduced speed limits as milling work and breaks in the pavement within the construction zone could be dangerous for people travelling at high speeds.

Daily updates will be provided through the department’s Twitter account, @TW_GovNL External Link Icon. For more information on the project, including other sections and detours, visit www.roads.gov.nl.ca.
