Funding Announced for New Fire Truck and Fire Hall Feasibility Study in Random Island West

The Provincial Government is providing funding for a new fire truck for Random Island West and will also offer financial support for a feasibility study for a fire hall in Elliott’s Cove.

Approximately $229,000 will be invested for a new tanker truck that has a 1,500 gallon poly water tank and a 1,500 gallon aluminum folding frame portable water tank. As well, $50,000 will be provided under the Municipal Capital Works Program for a feasibility study for a new fire hall. The study will assess the current infrastructure and current fire services needs in the region, in order to develop planning and programming documents.

Budget 2017 includes an investment of $1.88 million for the replacement of fire protection vehicles and firefighting equipment for 2017-18.
