Contract Awarded to Engineering Consultant for Assessment of Flooding at Mud Lake

The Provincial Government has contracted the services of an engineering consultant to work with the independent expert, Dr. Karl-Erich Lindenschmidt, in the assessment of the flooding at Mud Lake.

Dr. Lindenschmidt worked with staff of the Water Resources Management Division of the department and recommended that the contract for approximately $94,000 be awarded to KGS Group. With a head office in Winnipeg, Manitoba, KGS Group is an engineering and project management consulting firm that specializes in the design of industrial facilities, hydroelectric, environmental, water resources, commercial projects, and municipal infrastructure.

The consultant will support Dr. Lindenschmidt in undertaking an independent and specialized review of the flooding. They will work cooperatively with community representatives to ensure that local knowledge is considered. The Terms of Reference, which include information about the consultant’s requirements, are publicly available on the departmental website. The link is available in the Learn More section below.

Dr. Lindenschmidt and KGS Group are scheduled to attend the site before the end of the month to meet with local and long-time residents. Members of the community will be advised of scheduled meeting locations and times. The final report is expected to be complete by early fall 2017.
