Investment in Automated External Defibrillators Enhances Access to Emergency Equipment

Today, the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, announced that $100,000 has been provided to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada - Newfoundland and Labrador to contribute to placing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in public centres throughout the province. Minister Joyce was joined by Betty Parsley, MHA for Harbour Main, and Mary Ann Butt, CEO, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador, to make the announcement at the Robert French Memorial Stadium, Conception Bay South.

The funding was provided to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada - Newfoundland and Labrador under the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment’s Special Assistance Grant Program.

This investment builds on the success of the Restart a Heart – Restart a Life program. This program, generously supported by government and industry with additional funding provided by the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, saw 170 AEDs placed throughout the province in community centres, hockey rinks and arts and culture centres.
