Public Advisory: Application Deadline for Residents and Communities Affected by Flooding
The Department of Municipal Affairs is reminding residents of the approaching deadline for residents and communities to apply for assistance following the Thanksgiving Day rainstorm that affected parts of the province in October 2016.
The three-month deadline for receipt of applications under the Newfoundland and Labrador Disaster Financial Assistance Program (NL-DFAP) is Monday, January 9.
The Department of Municipal Affairs is also encouraging residents, who have not already submitted their applications for the NL-DFAP, to do so immediately to meet the deadline. If residents have not yet applied because they are waiting to hear from their insurance provider, they should still apply now and can provide documents from their insurance provider once they are available. Applications under the NL-DFAP will be assigned to insurance adjusters representing the Provincial Government, who will then make arrangements with the applicants to assess the damage.
Further details about NL-DFAP, including information sheets and applications, can be found at www.gov.nl.ca/rainstorm2016/. This information can also be attained by calling 1-888-395-5611.
