Habitat for Humanity Families in Corner Brook Celebrate New Homes

The Governments of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada celebrated two new Habitat for Humanity homes today for families in Corner Brook. The three-bedroom homes are the result of a $170,000 contribution through the 2014-2019 Investment in Affordable Housing (IAH) Agreement.

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, along with Gudie Hutchings, Member of Parliament for Long Range Mountains, on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) made the announcement. They were joined at the event by the Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development and Minister Responsible for the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation, and the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment and MHA for Humber - Bay of Islands.

Those attending the announcement celebrated with the Bellows and Quehe families at a home dedication ceremony. Both families have been living in their new homes since summer 2017.

By the end of 2017, the Federal and Provincial Governments will have contributed over $2 million in funding to Habitat Newfoundland and Labrador through IAH, and created 30 homes for people with low-to-moderate incomes throughout the province.
