Provincial Government Celebrates Volunteer Week

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, is encouraging residents to celebrate the contributions of all volunteers in the province during National Volunteer Week, April 23-29.

This year’s theme, Volunteering Shapes Lives, highlights the positive impacts volunteers have on lives and communities.

There are approximately 3,600 volunteer and non-profit organizations in the province, and over 200,000 active volunteers. Forty-six per cent of residents contribute an average of 151 hours each year.

Quote
“There is no sector which is not shaped by volunteering. So many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians give freely and serve others with no expectation of reward. This week, I encourage everyone to thank a volunteer, celebrate their accomplishments, and consider giving your own time in the service of others.”
Honourable Dwight Ball
Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador
