Media Advisory: House of Assembly to Host Daughter of the Vote

The Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly is hosting young women from across the province tomorrow (Thursday, February 23) for the NL Daughters of the Vote event. Media are invited to attend the introduction and opening remarks, to be provided by the Honourable Cathy Bennett, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will address participants during lunch hour at 12:10 p.m. in the Government Caucus room, outside of the House of Assembly.

Daughters of the Vote was created by Equal Voice nationally so that young women – one from every federal riding in Canada – can represent their community in Parliament. Due to overwhelming interest shown provincially for the national event – 103 applicants for seven seats, a committee was formed to organize a local event.
