Government Announces Interim CEO for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing

The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister Responsible for the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation, announced Glenn Goss has been named as Interim Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation. Mr. Goss was previously the Executive Director, Human Resources and Engineering for the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation.

Effective today (December 13), Mr. Goss replaces Julia Mullaley, who was appointed Auditor General for Newfoundland and Labrador. A bio for Mr. Goss is in the Backgrounder below.

The Independent Appointments Commission will work to fill this position on a permanent basis and will use the merit-based appointment process.

BACKGROUNDER

GLENN GOSS
Glenn Goss was appointed Executive Director, Corporate Administration with Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation in June 2005 and subsequently Executive Director, Human Resources and Engineering. A native of St. John’s, he spent much of his youth in Happy Valley-Goose Bay before returning to St. John’s and finally settling in Mount Pearl.

Glenn began his long and varied career in the public service in the early 1980s as a forestry technician with the Department of Forest Resources and Lands in Gander. In 1985, he joined Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation as a land development technician and continued in that role until 1993 when he changed career paths and moved into the area of human resources management. He held various progressive management positions during his eight years in the corporation’s Human Resources Department, and was promoted to Director, Human Resources in 2001. In 2005, he was appointed Executive Director, Corporate Administration.

Glenn attended Memorial University where he completed science and business courses before enrolling in and completing the Forest Resources Technology program at what is now the College of the North Atlantic.

Glenn has participated in baseball, hockey and curling at the provincial and national levels and was the curling coach for Team Gushue from 2006 through 2009. In 2005, he was named Ambassador for the World Curling Player’s Association/World Curling Tour.

As a volunteer, Glenn has given time to youth development in various sports and has held the positions of President, Vice-President and Member of the Board of Governors of the St. John’s Curling Association.

Glenn resides in Mount Pearl with his wife Peg and son Benjamin.
