Federal and Provincial Investments Provide New Affordable Housing Units in Clarenville

An official groundbreaking was held today for a new affordable housing complex to be constructed in Clarenville.

The Honourable Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Member of Parliament for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity, on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), along with Colin Holloway, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment and MHA for Terra Nova, on behalf of the Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation, made the announcement today.

The federal and provincial governments will contribute $1.25 million to New Life Christian Centre Inc., the local non-profit who will lead the development of this project. Once completed, the development will consist of 10 two-bedroom units designed to accommodate persons with complex needs.
