Media Advisory: Minister Gambin-Walsh to Attend Canada Games Athletes’ Rally

The Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, will announce Team Newfoundland and Labrador’s flag bearer for the 2017 Canada Summer Games at an athletes’ rally today (Tuesday, June 27) at the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Centre (Powerplex) on Crosbie Road in St. John’s. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

The rally will also celebrate all Team Newfoundland and Labrador athletes and wish them good luck at the games. The 2017 Canada Summer Games also marks the 50^th anniversary of the Canada Games, with the first games held in 1967 in Quebec City.

Nearly 400 athletes, volunteer coaches, managers and mission staff will represent Team Newfoundland and Labrador at the games, which are being held July 28 - August 13 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
