Minister Mitchelmore Announces Significant Enhancements to the Province’s Tourism Website

The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, today announced the launch of significant new features and enhancements to the Provincial Government’s tourism website. is the primary digital channel used to encourage and enable people to visit Newfoundland and Labrador with more than 2.3 million visits annually. All promotional and advertising material carries a call-to-action or link to the website which is a powerful platform for the entire tourism industry.

Mobile traffic to now accounts for almost half of overall website visits and the new responsive design ensures it looks great and performs well across all screen sizes and formats on smart phones, tablets, laptops and desktops.

In addition to the responsive design, further enhancements to the website include:

  • A fresh new look and navigation that’s intuitive and easy, representing Newfoundland and Labrador’s brand and new online behavior trends;
  • Modernized tourism operator listings which allow tourism businesses to include photographs, a description of their offering, links to their website and social media channels, and contact and location details utilizing google maps;
  • Travel offers being featured throughout the site to help travellers plan and book tourism and cultural experiences;
  • A new plan and book section featured prominently to assist users in selecting tourism operators with ease, incorporating search, filtering and sorting;
  • An enriched itinerary planner that allows travellers to build a customized itinerary with links to tourism operators, making it easy to plan and book in advance;
  • An improved interactive map providing the ability to plan and plot places to go, things to do, where to stay and eat; and,
  • Specific information for hunters and anglers who can now visit and, both of which are dedicated sites for hunting and angling information, outfitter listings and packages.
