Media Advisory: Parliamentary Secretary Browne to Attend Atlantic Charter Reception

Mark Browne, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will attend a reception to mark the anniversary of the Atlantic Charter. The event takes place at 6:00 p.m. today (Monday, August 14), at Crow’s Nest, 88 Water Street, St. John’s. At the reception there will a video link to a presentation taking place at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto where Edward and Jocelyn Badovinac of Ontario will present commemorative Atlantic Charter plaques to the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

August 14, 2016, marked the 75th anniversary of the Atlantic Charter, a joint-declaration that detailed the goals and aims of the Allied powers concerning the Second World War and the post-war world. The Atlantic Charter was released by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill after a four-day meeting in Newfoundland in 1941.
