Provincial Government Commences Countdown to Canada 150

Today, the Provincial Government released a sneak peek of its digital video campaign to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.

Beginning the week of June 5, a series of digital videos highlighting aspects of Newfoundland and Labrador culture, landscape and people will be released and promoted on Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism digital and social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. To view the first video entitled Sunrise, visit: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBA22HQQejI .

The digital videos feature several familiar voices from the provincial music scene, including Anita Best, Kelly Russell, Pamela Morgan and Andrew James O’Brien from Fortunate Ones.

These videos highlight some of the many ways in which Newfoundland and Labrador has contributed to Canada’s national tapestry, and all the while, inviting travellers to explore the many things there are to see and do while on the ground here in the province.

Canada 150 will be celebrated throughout the summer across the province for the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Quote
“The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador sees these digital videos as a great way for Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada’s youngest province, to help celebrate our country’s sesquicentennial. Each digital video celebrates Canada 150, while also highlighting features that differentiate Newfoundland and Labrador from the rest of the country. We are truly unique, exotic and off the beaten path, and these videos will help profile the tourist experience here as we strive to double our resident and non-resident visitor spending by 2020.”
Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore
Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation
