Provincial Visitor Information Centres Open Across the Province
To mark the start of the 2017 summer tourism season in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Provincial Visitor Information Centres located in Port aux Basques, Deer Lake, Notre Dame, Clarenville, Whitbourne, Argentia and St. John’s are now officially opened.
Travellers to the provincially-operated centres are provided with information on local festivals and events, advice and direction to hidden gems, as well as the attractions and experiences located throughout the province.
Nationally certified by the Tourism HR Canada emerit program, the Newfoundland and Labrador tourism travel counsellors in the Provincial Visitor Information Centres engage with over 200,000 visitors every year.
Quote
“Newfoundland and Labrador tourism travel counsellors are instrumental in increasing tourism revenues and length of stay, as they encourage visitors to travel and participate in experiences in all regions throughout our province. Their welcoming and informative service provides a key role in the sense of arrival in and around Newfoundland and Labrador, and their personal interaction often encourages our visitors to explore ‘off the beaten path’ areas not previously considered. All of this plays a key role in our government’s commitment to growing tourism as we strive towards doubling resident and non-resident visitor spending by 2020.”
