The Rooms Launches First World War Online Exhibition and Virtual Tour

The Rooms continues its First World War commemorative efforts with the launch of a bilingual online exhibition entitled Beaumont-Hamel and the Trail of the Caribou: Newfoundland and Labradorians at War and at Home 1914-1949. It features new stories, a 3D virtual tour of the physical exhibition and a special section dedicated to the battle at Beaumont Hamel.

This online exhibition is a part of the Where Once They Stood We Stand campaign, and was made possible with funding from the Government of Canada.

On July 1, 2016, The Rooms marked the 100th anniversary of Beaumont-Hamel with the largest First World War commemorative efforts in Canada. These efforts successfully shifted the story of Beaumont-Hamel and Newfoundland and Labradors involvement in the First World War from a provincial story to a Canadian story.
