Students Appointed to Memorial University Board of Regents
The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced the latest appointments to Memorial University’s Board of Regents.
The new student appointees are Alex Noel and Christian Samson, who were nominated by their respective student unions and recommended by the Board of Regents. Biographies are provided in the backgrounder below.
The Memorial University Board of Regents, along with Memorial University's Senate, is responsible for all matters related to programming, employees and other areas deemed to be in the best interest of the institution.

Biographies of New Memorial University Board of Regents Members
Alex Noel
Alex Noel is currently enrolled at Memorial University of Newfoundland and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2015. Other activities include student representative on the Council on Higher Education and Newfoundland and Labrador National Executive Representative of the Canadian Federation of Students. Community service includes positions with Eastern Edge Gallery, the St. John’s Trans March, and Camp Eclipse.
Christian Samson
Christian Samson is pursuing a Joint Diploma of Technology/Bachelor of Technology – Engineering and Applied Science of Underwater Vehicles at Memorial University’s Marine Institute. He has worked with SubC Imaging in Clarenville and has volunteered extensively in support of post-secondary students.
