Provincial Government Announces Appointment of Chairperson to Labour Relations Board

The Provincial Government today announced the appointment of David Conway of St. John’s as Chairperson of the Labour Relations Board for a five-year term effective August 7, 2017. The appointment was recommended through the Independent Appointments Commission.

The Labour Relations Board is an independent, quasi-judicial body which contributes to and promotes harmonious labour relations in Newfoundland and Labrador by adjudicating and mediating a variety of employment and labour relations matters.

BACKGROUNDER

Biographical Information of David Conway

David Conway is a lawyer who practices exclusively in the fields of labour and administrative law. Mr. Conway is Co-Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Management Committee, an instructor in the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar Admission Course, a past instructor at Memorial University and has presented at numerous labour law conferences within Canada. He routinely appears before administrative tribunals and has appeared at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada.
