Minister Byrne Wishes Muslim Faith Community a Rewarding Ramadan
The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, wishes the Muslim faith community in Newfoundland and Labrador and around the world a rewarding and blessed month Ramadan, which begins this week.
For Muslims, the holy month of Ramadan is a time of fasting, self-reflection, and charity. Members of the Muslim faith community are called to fast from dawn to dusk, while also supporting charitable efforts in their communities, and striving to be especially thoughtful, patient, and moral.
In Newfoundland and Labrador, the diverse and growing Muslim faith community enjoys a wide variety of Ramadan traditions from throughout the world, including community meals shared with friends, neighbours, and especially people in need.
Quotes
βIt is my pleasure to wish a happy, blessed, and rewarding Ramadan to the Muslim faith community in Newfoundland and Labrador and around the world. Ramadan is a time of reflection, giving, and supporting all community members, but especially those who need a helping hand. I encourage all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to learn more about Ramadan from their Muslim neighbours, colleagues, and friends.β
