Providing Reliable Marine Services to Residents

New Intra-provincial Ferry Schedules Come into Effect October 21

Effective Friday, October 21, new ferry schedules will be implemented for some of the intra-provincial ferry services. The new schedules were developed based on input received from consultations with ferry user committees to help find efficiencies in service delivery and better align ferry services with passenger usage.

"Over the summer, officials from the Department of Transportation and Works met with ferry user committees, comprising residents who use these services regularly. Our primary goal was to discuss ways to make the province's ferry schedules more efficient and reflect passenger usage. I thank everyone who took the time to meet with officials as this direction helped shape the revised schedules. We feel the new schedules represent a fair and reasonable service and we will monitor and work with communities as they are implemented."
- The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Transportation and Works

New ferry service schedules for the following routes will be implemented:

  • St. Brendan's - Burnside
  • Gaultois - McCallum - Hermitage
  • Rencontre East - Bay L'Argent - Pool's Cove
  • Francois - Grey River - Burgeo
  • Ramea - Grey River - Burgeo
  • South East Bight - Petite Forte
  • Little Bay Islands - Long Island - Pilley's Island

The new schedules are posted on the department's website at www.tw.gov.nl.ca/ferryservices/.

The department will continue to monitor traffic volumes on these ferry services to ensure that the needs of residents and communities are being met.
